A pioneer with an indomitable will has passed away.

The LAMPERT company announces that Werner Lampert passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 9, 2025, two days after his 79th birthday. "We are deeply saddened and cannot believe that Werner Lampert has passed away," said Brigitte Hanzmann and Tobias Metzler, Managing Directors of LAMPERT. "Our thoughts are with Werner Lampert's family and loved ones." The LAMPERT company has been creating sustainable organic food for over 30 years.

In September, Werner Lampert was honored for his life's work and for his extraordinary achievements in the creation of famous and successful organic brands. With "Ja! Natürlich" from Rewe and "Zurück zum Ursprung" from Hofer KG, he developed two of the most successful organic brands in Europe. He has written several books in which he explains the need for holistic, sustainable agriculture to consumers. Born in Vorarlberg in 1946, Werner Lampert was one of the pioneers in the field of sustainable organic food production. He had been intensively involved in organic farming since the 1970s. In 1998, he founded his own consultancy firm, which supports retailers across Europe in designing sustainable and transparent organic brands or entire organic ranges and implementing sustainability systems for existing brands.

The world is facing immense challenges: the global population is growing, climate change is progressing and clean water is becoming increasingly scarce on our planet.
At the same time, the supply of food will become the biggest challenge for Europe over the next 20 years. To ensure that we can still live well and healthily tomorrow, Werner Lampert has been calling for a rethink for years: towards sustainable organic farming and fair production of consumer goods.

As the father of two daughters himself, Werner Lampert was always concerned that future generations should also have access to healthy food. He always urged people to hurry and called for a rapid agricultural turnaround.

"It fills us with pride and gratitude to have been part of Werner Lampert's team for all these years, to have learned from him and to implement his approaches," says Brigitte Hanzmann. "We will continue his life's work with full commitment and the utmost responsibility."

  1. Good evening,
My heartfelt condolences to you and to Werner Lampert's family. Such a loss is hard to bear, a person with so many positive ideas, which he also put into practice!

I am very happy that I was able to work with him and the other colleagues on the "Kuh-Buch".

I wish you all the best and much strength for the coming time of mourning and certainly also of reorientation in some respects.

    All the love,
    Danila Mayer
