A visionary with an unyielding will has left us.
The LAMPERT company announces that Werner Lampert passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 9, 2025, two days after his 79th birthday. “We are deeply saddened and cannot believe that Werner Lampert has left us,” said Brigitte Hanzmann and Tobias Metzler, the managing directors of LAMPERT. “Our thoughts are with Werner Lampert’s family and loved ones.” The LAMPERT company has been producing sustainable organic foods for over 30 years.
In September, Werner Lampert was honored for his life’s work and his extraordinary achievements in creating well-known and successful organic brands. With Rewe’s “Ja! Natürlich” and Hofer KG’s “Zurück zum Ursprung,” he developed two of Europe’s most successful organic brands. He wrote several books in which he explained to consumers the necessity of holistic, sustainable agriculture. Born in Vorarlberg in 1946, Werner Lampert was one of the pioneers in the field of sustainable organic food production. He had been intensively involved in organic farming since the 1970s. In 1998, he founded his own consulting firm, which assists retailers across Europe in designing sustainable and transparent organic brands or entire organic product lines and in implementing sustainability systems for existing brands.
The world faces immense challenges: the global population is growing, climate change is advancing, and clean water is becoming increasingly scarce on our planet.
At the same time, food supply will become Europe’s greatest challenge over the next 20 years. To ensure that we can continue to live well and healthily in the future, Werner Lampert has been calling for a shift in thinking for years: toward sustainable organic farming and fair production of consumer goods.
As the father of two daughters, Werner Lampert was always deeply committed to ensuring that future generations would continue to have access to healthy food. He constantly urged people to act quickly and called for a rapid transformation of agriculture.
“We are filled with pride and gratitude for having been part of Werner Lampert’s team all these years, for having learned from him, and for having put his approaches into practice,” said Brigitte Hanzmann. “We will carry on his life’s work with total dedication and the utmost sense of responsibility.”
