Biodiversity – The magic of nature

View across a meadow into the distance

The magic of nature is reflected in biodiversity. Biodiversity is the basis of life for us all; without the diversity of life, the possibility of life on earth is massively restricted in the long term.

Doing something for the diversity of life on the farms is not an end in itself, it is work for society for the vitality of the farm, for the quality of the food that the farmers produce.

With ecosystems, farmers create islands that become a Noah's ark for future generations. With diversity on the farm, they make themselves fit to cope with climate change.
We are feeling the effects of climate change in our latitudes through long periods of drought and heavy rainfall. Erosion caused by large amounts of water is the result. If your soil has an alternation of shallow and deep roots, you are ideally equipped. If you have diverse plant growth, your cows' milk will be high in unsaturated fatty acids, especially conjugated linoleic acid, which prevents many diseases of civilization.

You see, biodiversity is not only necessary for the mind, soul and beauty, biodiversity opens up a golden future for you and your children, because diversity increases the chance of plants and animals adapting to climate change.

Biodiversity makes your farm sustainable and biodiversity feeds your pride.

I will never forget the pride of the farmer who walked with me through his meadows, where 70, 80 different grasses and herbs grew. I have never felt the farmer's pride so intensely, and the fact that he was proud was good, very good, for the community, his farm and for the food he got from his animals.

His pride was one that made him happy, that makes us all happy.

Yours, Werner Lampert
