Assessment of sustainability
We offer systems to assess the sustainability of agricultural production. We analyze the ecological, social and economic impact of organic products and compare them with conventional products.
Promotion of sustainable practices
The LAMPERT sustainability assessment checks organic products holistically for their sustainability from the field to the shelf and compares them with average conventional goods. We analyze your products and provide you with detailed insights into their ecological, social and economic performance.

We have implemented many innovation projects in agriculture. We quickly became interested in whether the positive effect could also be scientifically proven.
Brigitte Hanzmann, Managing Director LAMPERT
In a world where sustainability is no longer just a trend, but a necessity, companies are faced with the challenge of designing products that are environmentally friendly, socially just and economically profitable.
Our sustainability assessment of products offers you the solution to achieve these goals.
The LAMPERT sustainability assessment
Together with experts from the non-profit think and do tank CSCP, we developed a field-to-shelf assessment. After evaluating 19 international assessment and reporting methods and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, 12 relevant topics were identified: Animal welfare, biodiversity, climate protection, water, soil, circular economy at the producer, added value for the region, transparency, fairness, product quality and health, sustainability dynamics, packaging.
Including numerous subtopics and indicators, the results are meaningful and trustworthy.

For the scientific evaluation of sustainability, we work with an independent institute in both Austria and Germany. In Austria, we have a long-standing cooperation with the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) Austria for our Zurück zum Ursprung products. In Switzerland, we work with the Institute for Agroecology for the retour aux sources products.

Frequently asked questions about sustainability assessment
Do you need more information about the sustainability assessment of food?
We have summarized 5 common questions and answers for you.
What exactly does the LAMPERT sustainability assessment involve?
There are assessments that examine a large number of subject areas and indicators. However, this makes them very time-consuming and not very practical. We have defined 12 topics that are most relevant to the food sector and therefore cover the majority of the impact areas. The topics cover the social, ecological and economic dimensions.
Why is a sustainability assessment important for my company?
A sustainability assessment is important in order to create transparency and credibility towards customers and partners. It makes it possible to comply with legal requirements and prepare for future regulations. It also helps you to assume ecological and social responsibility, which is crucial for the future viability of your company.
How can my company benefit from a sustainability assessment?
A sustainability assessment of your products strengthens consumer confidence in your brand and differentiates you from the competition. It helps you to meet legal requirements such as the EU Green Deal or the Supply Chain Act and minimize risks. You can also reduce costs and secure long-term competitive advantages through sustainable optimization.
How do I know if my products are more sustainable than others?
In order to identify the extent to which the evaluated product differs from other products, the sustainability results are compared with a modeled reference product from conventional agriculture. This reference product is not a real product, but is modeled from average data or a basket of five real products. The products are offered by retailers who together generate more than half of the food retail turnover. The reference product is therefore representative of an average conventional product.
Why should I opt for the LAMPERT rating?
In combination with the LAMPERT database, the assessment is very efficient and cost-effective. Primary data from agricultural production is already recorded during the organic inspection and entered into the database. Scientific studies, reports, life cycle analyses and organic standards are also used.
